Burren Walks

BURREN WALKS

Heart of Burren Walks offers Tailor Made Walks by appointment. Walks can be customised to suit group in terms of duration, difficulty and theme.

Walks vary in duration from 1 hour to all day long. The most popular walks last on average 2 to 3 hours. The hikes vary in difficulty from very easy to strenuous hill walk. Walkers can choose from a menu of locations in the Burren varying from spectacular Atlantic coastline to the rugged beauty of the interior, including the Burren National Park.

Cost of walk is  calculated based on size of group, duration of walk and time of year. Please get in touch for quote. The walks are available all year round.

Scheduled Walks take place 5 days a week in June, July and August. Schedule 2018 begins on the 5th of June. The walks cost 20 euros per adult. Kids go free. The hikes always go ahead as scheduled regardless of weather or how many people turn up. One is a crowd and the show must go on! Advance booking is not essential. A small number of scheduled walks take place outside of the June/July/August period. Keep an eye on the website for detail.

Weekend Walking Breakstake place each year in May to coincide with one of Europe's great annual natural history events, the Burren in Bloom. Heart of Burren Walks teams up with the  Michelin-starred Wild Honey Inn, Lisdoonvarna to offer exquisite food, accommodation and walking. Two weekends are scheduled for May 2018.

We specialise in Pilgrim Walks which always conclude at spectacular sacred sites. Along the way, the group comes across fascinating examples in the landscape of "the merging of traditions" - pre-Christian customs and monuments which have been overlain with Christianity.
TESTIMONIAL

"We thoroughly enjoyed the walk, even those amongst us who thought they wouldn't!! Tony exudes passion for the Burren, its formation, its history, plants, flora.... If you are in the Burren, don't miss this one! It will appeal to those from far and near. Our group lives near the Burren and we learnt so much!! To quote Tony, there is no" shamrockery" on the tour, just the facts!"
