YOUR GUIDE

The guide, Tony Kirby, spent five years in Italy in the 1990s. He travelled extensively during his stay there delivering public lectures on Ireland and Irish civilisation.

On returning to Ireland, he founded a company called Ibernia Tours which specialised in walking tours of Dublin city.  Ibernia Tours operated in Dublin for five successful years to 2002.

In the same year he became a Fáilte Ireland approved national tour guide, graduating with a distinction. His area of specialist study during the Fáilte Ireland course was The Burren region. In the summer of 2003, Tony founded Heart of Burren Walks and commenced guiding on The Burren.

Tony now lives in the  heart of the Burren near the village of Caherblonick, Kilnaboy.

He claims he likes nothing better than an animated chat over a refreshment after a walk across the Rocky Burren.

Testimonials

“A comprehensive interpretation of the great Burren landscape laced with passion and humour. A pulsating, unforgettable experience.”

Alison Mooney, Alternative Ireland Tours, Brussels.

"Tony's enthusiasm of and love for this remarkable region permeates his explanations and commentaries.  In addition to commanding a consumate knowledge of the Burren, Tony also possesses that rare talent which enables him to imbue the rocks with palpable life.  As someone who has explored this landscape at first hand for over two decades, I highly recommend his tours."
