The book was written by Tony Kirby of Heart of Burren Walks It was published in 2009 by Collins Press. A revised edition was issued in 2014.

From the rugged interior to the spectacular coastal scenery, from challenging upland walks to shorter road and waterside walks, this is a guide to some of the best walking routes in the region.
Each route is prefaced with a quick-reference summary and is illustrated with a colour map. Descriptions include detailed access information while points of interest (geology, flora, fauna, history, farming and folklore) are highlighted in order to enhance the walkers’ enjoyment and appreciation of this distinctive landscape. A revised edition of the book was published in May 2014.
