A piece of Burren Coast Line

Ailladie Cliffs are located in the south west of the Burren. The limestone cliffs are 800 metres long and 35 metres at their highest point. Aillidie is an anglicisation of Aill an Daill which means The Blind Man’s Cliffs. It is one of Ireland’s most prized rock climbing locations.

The shelf under the cliffs is popular with shore anglers. Several rocks have numbers painted on them for club angling competitions.
The painted rock in the photo weighs several tons and was thrown on to the shore by a storm – testament to the ferocity of the North Atlantic.

Ailladie offers sublime coastal views including west to the Aran Islands.
Extreme care should be exercised along the coastline.
